Homework 10/10 (from notebook)

Some of the qualifications for being in a class group are being respectful, mature, and being understanding of the other group member's opinions on whatever topic being discussed. The reason why we need to follow these rules is because the other members should not have to feel worried about sharing their thoughts.

Homework 10/6

Enkidu from the text "The Epic of Gilgamesh" passes away in tablet seven, which was not Gilgamesh's fault. According to the text it states, "'You helped Gilgamesh, and he killed my Bull of Heaven', added Anu, father of the gods. 'One of these two must die.' 'Let it be Enkidu'." Although Enkidu died because he was with Gilgamesh, that does not necessarily mean it was Gilgamesh's fault. Later on in the text, it also states how Gilgamesh was "stalked by death" and how he's been alone. In conclusion, this is why Gilgamesh was not to blame for Enkidu's death.

Homework 10/3

Gilgamesh and Enkidu share many similarities and differences in the text, "The Epic of Gilgamesh". First of all, the two men have different viewpoints on what's right. According to the text it states, "Gilgamesh was unmatched in strength and power...He ripped sons from their fathers and demanded virgins from their husbands on their wedding nights"; which indicates that Gilgamesh doesn't show sympathy for other beings. Unlike him, Enkidu shows respect for others, which according to the text states, "A trapper and his son saw Enkidu among the animals and saw how he scared the creatures away from their traps". While the two men have their differences, they also have many similarities. Enkidu and Gilgamesh are both very physically strong. According to the text, it states, "When Enkidu arrived in Uruk, the people whispered, 'This is the wild man. He is the only one who can stop Gilgamesh'...When Gilgamesh arrived to take the bride, Enkidu stood in his way. Like two bulls they fought. The door post splintered. The walls shook. The floor trembled."
